Canadian Professionals (TN)

The TN non-immigrant classification if for Canadian citizens who are coming to the United States to work in one of the professional occupations listed in the below schedule. The applicant must have the minimum education/experience stated for each occupation. The TN classification is granted in one-year increments only and applications are made at the border inspection point.

The qualifying professions and requirements are as follows :

Accountant – Bachelor Degree or CPA, CA, CGA or CMA
Architect – Bachelor Degree or license
Computer Systems Analyst – Bachelor Degree or P/S Diploma or P/S certificate and three years experience
Disaster relief insurance claims adjuster (claims adjuster employed by an insurance company located in the territory of a party or independent claims adjuster) – Bachelor Degree and successful completion of training in the appropriate areas of insurance adjustment pertaining to disaster relief claims; or three years of experience in claims adjustment and successful completion of training in the appropriate areas of insurance adjustment pertaining to disaster relief claims
Economist – Bachelor Degree
Engineer – Bachelor Degree or license
Forester – Bachelor Degree or license
Graphic Designer – Bachelor Degree or P/S diploma or P/S certificate and three years of experience
Hotel Manager – Bachelor Degree in hotel and restaurant management or P/S diploma or P/S certificate in hotel/restaurant management and three years of experience in hotel/restaurant management
Industrial Designer – Bachelor Degree or P/S diploma or P/S certificate and three years of experience
Landscape Architect – Bachelor Degree
Lawyer (including Notary in the Province of Quebec) – LLB, JD, LLL, BCL or Degree (five years) or membership in state bar
Librarian – MLS or BLS (for which another Bachelor degree was a prerequisite)
Management Consultant - Bachelor degree or equivalent professional experience as established by statement or professional credential attesting to five years experience as a management consultant or five years experience in a field of specialty related to the consulting agreement
Mathematician (including Statistician)- Bachelor Degree
Range Manager/Range Conservationist – Bachelor Degree
Research Assistant (working in a post secondary educational institution
Scientific Technician/Technologist – possession of a theoretical knowledge in any of the following disciplines: agricultural sciences, astronomy, biology, chemistry, engineering, forestry, geology, geophysics, meteorology, physics and also the ability to solve practical problems in any of those disciplines or ability to apply principles of any of those disciplines to basic or applied research
Social Worker – Bachelor Degree.
Silviculturist (including Forestry Specialist) Bachelor Degree
Technical publications Writer – Bachelor Degree or P/S diploma or P/S certificate and three year s of experience
Urban Planner (including geographer) – Bachelor Degree
Vocational Counselor – Bachelor Degree

Medical/Allied Professionals :

Dentist – DDS, DMD, Doctor en Odontologia or Doctor in Cirugia Dental or s/p license
Dietician – Bachelor Degree or s/p license
Medical Laboratory Technologist (Canada) Medical Technologies (Mexico and United States) – Bachelor Degree or P/S diploma or P/S certificate and three years of experience
Nutritionist – Bachelor Degree
Occupational Therapist – Bachelor Degree or s/p license
Pharmacist – Bachelor Degree or s/p license
Physician (teaching or research only) – MD, Doctor in Medicine or s/p license
Physiotherapist/Physical Therapist – Bachelor Degree or s/p license
Psychologist – s/p license or Degree
Recreational Therapist – Bachelor Degree
Registered Nurse – s/p license or Degree
Veterinarian – DVM, DMV, or Doctor en Veterinaria or s/p license

Scientists :

Agriculturist (including Agronomist) – Bachelor Degree

Documentation:

A letter from the US employer stating the proposed job title, job duties and salary. The letter should also summarize the alien's qualifications for the position.
Evidence of Canadian Citizenship
Evidence that the alien meets the TN minimum education/license/experience qualifications.
